The program “Kerala - Simple Living & Exotic Locations“ offers some charming accommodation and an exotic beach location, amazingly close to the sea. Very simple living, less expensive and not luxurious. But very close to tradition, history and nature. This trip is suitable for all those people who wish to stay in simple charming accommodation and experience the real Kerala tradition, nature and its beauty. All these kinds of accomodation have a small number of rooms and not suggested for groups with more than 6 persons.
Day 1 From Cochin to Champakulam Backwaters
Arrival in Cochin. Transfer to the Backwaters of Champakulam (95 km/ 2 hours)
This evening you go on a country canoe cruise across the Backwaters and witness the village life on river banks.
Day 2 At Champakulam Village
This morning your host takes you for a walk along the rice fields. You come across village life, workers at work, the village temple and you also see various types of fishing in the Backwaters.
Later in the evening you visit the local market, where villagers go to buy their household items after the day’s work. You also visit the Mankompu Sree Bhagavathy temple.

Day 3 From Champakulam to Fort Cochin
After breakfast, we drive you to the heritage town of Fort Cochin (65 km, 1.5 hours)
In the afternoon you meet your local guide and set on foot to explore Fort Cochin.
After Fort Cochin, you take a TUK TUK for a short ride to Mattancherry Dutch Palace (Friday closed). Mattancherry is famous for its wall murals depicting scenes from the Ramayana.

Day 4 From Fort Cochin to Nilambur
After breakfast, we drive to Nilambur (180 km, 4.5 hours). Nilambur Kovilakams are situated at the foot of the Western Ghats, along the banks of the river Chaliyar and they are architectural marvels known for their beautiful frescoes and woodwork.
Enjoy your lunch and dinner with a local family. This evening you visit the Kovilakom Temple and witness the Deity from outside.

Day 5 Nilambur
Early morning you meet a Brahmin lady, who will tell you the history of Kolam drawing technique practised by the hindu women in front of their houses.
Later you can visit an astrolger, who will read your palm and predict your future and make you understand your past.
Then you have lunch with a local family.
In the evening you will visit a tribal colony to witness the techniques of local pottery making.
Enjoy your dinner with the family.

Day 6 From Nilambur to Kannur Beach
After breakfast, we drive to Kannur (150 km, 3.5 hours), which is a hamlet down the Malabar Coast, silent and secluded. You will stay at a beach house, which will keep you away from the any disturbing sounds and crowd.
In the evening you witness a Theyyam or Theyyattam - a popular Hindu ritual of worship in North Kerala state, predominant in the Kolathunadu area (having Kannur and Kasargod districts).

You relax during the full day at the Kannur Beach.

Day 8 Departure from Calicut
It will be time to say "Good bye"
We transfer you to Calicut Airport in time(105 km, 2.5 hours) to get your flight back home.
